In continuation of the Central Bank of Egypt’s (CBE) leading role in achieving integration among African central banks, and within the framework of its ongoing cooperation with the COMESA Monetary Institute (CMI), the CBE hosted a training program on “Incorporating Climate Risks in Micro and Macro Stress Testing for Central Banks”.
The program was attended by 25 participants representing 11 central banks from COMESA member states, along with a delegation from the CMI.
The sessions – which continued for five days at the headquarters of the Egyptian Banking Institute (EBI) in Cairo – featured discussions, practical examples, experiences sharing of climate risks and the impact of incorporating them into micro and macro stress testing using standard models. The training also covered applications of stress tests to credit, liquidity, climate change, and interbank contagion risks.
