Central Bank of Egypt Hosts a Delegation of Planning and Management Experts from Bank of Tanzania

In line with its commitment to strengthen cooperation with African central banks, the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) hosted a delegation from the Bank of Tanzania to explore the best practices adopted in the field of business continuity, as part of the expertise-exchange program
During the five-day visit, the Tanzanian delegation, which comprised a group of planning and management experts, gained insights on Egypt’s pioneering experience in Business Continuity Management (BCM), and its impact on the stability and sustainability of banking functions, as well as the ability to mitigate crises efficiently and effectively
Dr. Naglaa Nozahie, Governor’s Advisor for African Affairs at the CBE, emphasized that, “Hosting the Bank of Tanzania delegation reflects the CBE’s strong commitment to expanding expertise-exchange programs with African Central Banks, particularly in strategic fields such as business continuity and crisis management. The program enabled the visiting delegation to gain firsthand insight into the best practices adopted at the CBE, thereby contributing to the strengthening of institutional capacities and enhancing technical cooperation between the two countries
For his part, Mr. Shehab Selim, Assistant Sub-Governor of the CBE for the Risk Management Sector, welcomed the Tanzanian delegation, and highlighted that the CBE has successfully acquired the ISO 22301 certification, in a reflection of its leading role in adopting and implementing the highest standards in BCM, ensuring a timely and effective response to crises and emergencies. He also reaffirmed the CBE’s readiness to share its expertise in business continuity and risk management with specialists from African central banks
The visit included a field tour of the alternative sites to explore the implemented systems. The Tanzanian delegation also participated in discussion sessions featuring presentations on the challenges that confront institutions and the strategies utilized to address them through effective BCM. The sessions also covered methods for building business continuity capabilities to ensure readiness for potential challenges or operational disruptions, in addition to underscoring the crucial role of senior management support in the success of business continuity program
The Tanzanian delegation is part of the ongoing visits of specialized missions from African central banks to the CBE, aimed at fostering joint cooperation and leveraging Egypt’s distinguished knowledge across key central banking areas, including cybersecurity, payment systems, banking supervision, among others
